Calico Joe by John Grisham
Don't wait until it is too late to apologize. John Grisham's book, Calico Joe, is a good book to read if you love baseball. It is also a good book to read if you just like books about the difficulties of families. This book shows us that what you see in a player on TV or at a game may not be what that player is like in his real life when he is not playing ball. It is a good book. It makes you think about how lucky you are to have your own family. It makes you think about the players you watch play ball. It makes you think about the troubles people have that you don't know about. It makes you think about right and wrong. And it makes you think about the good in people that is locked away. I recommend this book because it kept me interested. It is well written and it is written by a well known author.

My name is Hoyt and I am a high-schooler in Mrs d's class. I am VERY concerned about what has happened in our community! I strongly believe we should spend our time doing what we can to help the people in our community that were effected by the flood. I want to spend my time wisely.
Specifically about English, I am kind of getting freaked out. My expectation for English was that I would work hard and do my best. My goal was to learn how to improve my reading comprehension and write better. But I am nervous now. I heard Mrs. d say we should take only 15 minutes to write our blogs but it took me over 15 minutes to read the blogs we were supposed to read! Also, the one that said it was a must read included the student saying she spent 13 hours one weekend on English. Just English. I don't have that kind of time for any subject. I am going to try to do my best.
